For my next couple of additions to the Icons of the Dead collection I decided to stray from the Romero films and go to John Landis's classic An American Werewolf in London. Although not strictly a zombie Jack's definitely dead and absolutely iconic so it fits (I said I was gonna be loose with the term!).
Jack's stage 1 look is probably one of the most recognisable horror make-ups ever created. It doesn't interfere with Griffin Dunne's brilliant portrayal but is there's no mistaking how Jack died, and you can spend most of the scene visually picking apart the brilliant application of various injuries... or just staring at that wet, dangling piece of skin wriggle as he talks.
